Sirsasana Alison's favourite pose - a pose that quietens the mind

It takes 6 years of rigorous study  to qualify to teach Iyengar Yoga, which I began whilst working as a teacher in Further Education.

After  many years of  juggling my yoga classes around my job  I  finally decided to leave my career of 15 years to teach yoga full time.

I continue my professional development through practising with my senior teachers and attending conventions and workshops here in the UK and Europe - taught by teachers who have studied with BKS and Geeta Iyengar.

I absorb myself in daily self practice and feel privileged  to share my learning of the profound teachings of BKS Iyengar and his family with my students. My favourite pose is 'Sirsasana' (head balance) which I really enjoy doing looking out to sea.

When standing 'the right way up' I will likely be walking my rescue greyhound. Zola - who on occasions has come along to watch my classes! During Lockdown in 2020 we  raised £600 with my first online class. The money was for Erin Hounds, the rescue centre that brought her into my life.

That Tuesday evening online class still continues today!

I love to potter in my garden, sowing seeds for the seasons that lay ahead. I am an amateur veg grower and slowly improving, thanks to the useful  tips  my students share before and after class.  That's not all we share -  we have had tomatoes, marrows and courgettes brought along to class!
